HK students get history lesson on Chung Ying Street

    BEIJING, April 10 -- More than 200 students came to Chung Ying Street, which lies on the border between Shenzhen City in southern Guangdong Province and Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The street represents the concept of "one street, two systems."

    Seeing the abandoned boundary tablet and other sights on Chung Ying Street was a history lesson for the group.

    Deng Huiyuan, Hong Kong junior high school student: (Reporter: Is this the first time you have been here?) Yes, it's my first time. (Reporter: Are you excited?) Yes, it's a chance for us to learn more about Chinese culture.

    The Chung Ying History Museum has become the "Hong Kong National Education Center." In the next three days, Chung Ying Street welcomed more than 600 pupils.

    Soundbite: Lu Ruyi, chief inspector of the Hong Kong National Education Center: "They come here to know more about the humiliating history from these cherished pictures and so that they will understand the truth of Great Britain's departure."

    According to Lu Ruyi, chief inspector of the Hong Kong National Education Center, the center will organize visits for Hong Kong students to historic and military sites to teach patriotism.
