NEW DELHI, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Indian archaeologists have discovered a 3000 year-old furnace and other utensils, in Daulatpur, near historic town of Kurukshetra in north India, the local Hindi language daily Danik Bhaskar reported Sunday.

    Scientists believe that the site must have been a factory for making utensils. Some utensils found are baked while others are semi-baked. This kind of furnace has been discovered in the country for the first time. Besides, a cooking furnace has also been discovered.

    The discovery came through when Sri Krishan Museum's archaeologist Rajendra Singh and his team stumbled upon these areas while searching for articles of historic importance for an exhibition in the area. The picking of mud for filling purposes by locals had brought up the signs of furnace below.

    In an earlier excavation effort 35 year ago, some articles had been discovered at the site, but the current discovery has established the presence of definite civilizations around Kurikshetra some 3000 years ago, said the report, quoting scientists working on the project.
