DHAKA, March 31 (Xinhua) -- A student of Dhaka Medical College died and 30 others were wounded Tuesday after fierce clashes on the campus between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student wing of ruling party Awami League.
Medical sources said Abul Kalam Asad Rajib, general secretary of Fazle Rabbi Hall committee of the student league, succumbed to his injuries in the evening at a hospital in capital Dhaka.
Witnesses said Rajib was beaten and tossed out of his 2nd-floorroom by rivals in a feud for establishing supremacy over the college campus early Tuesday.
The authorities closed the Dhaka Medical College for an indefinite period following the series of clashes between the rival factions in the college.
All students were asked to vacate the dormitories.
A three-member committee has been formed to investigate the incident of internecine clash at the prestigious institution.
