BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing-based China
Tibetology Research Center published a comprehensive report on Tibet's economic
and social development on Monday, in which it outlined the region's changes over
the past 50 years through facts and figures.
The authors, all scholars having long been engaged in
Tibetan studies, compiled the report from in-person surveys and case studies
after two trips to Tibet last year. >>>
BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- Tibet's environment has
been well preserved in its economic development and modernization, said a report
published Monday by the Beijing-based China Tibetology Research Center.
"In China, Tibet is the place nearest to the sky and
furthest away from pollution," read the Report on the Economic and Social
Development of Tibet. >>>
BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The central
government's strong financial support to Tibet and huge investment in its major
projects played a vital role in the region's economic and social development,
according to a report released Monday.
Most of the investment local governments in Tibet use
to develop their economy was from the central government's fiscal transfer
payment and input for various projects in Tibet, and assistance from
more-developed inland provinces and cities, said the report, which was published
by the China Tibetology Research Center. >>>
BEIJING, March 30 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese central
government has played a crucial role in Tibet's economic development by

(GDP), according to the Report on the Economic and Social Development of Tibet
published Monday by Beijing-based China Tibetology Research Center.
The government has lifted control on prices of consumer
goods, including the prices of farm produce, and a market system has been
established primarily in Tibet which has obvious function in regulating local
economic life, the report said. >>>
BEIJING, March 31 (Xinhua) -- High development cost,
the imbalance between rural and urban areas and a lack of talents are obstacles
for Tibet's future development, said a report published Monday by the
Beijing-based China Tibetology Research Center.
Despite the achievements in economic, social and
sustainable development over the past decades, the region in southwest China
still faces many difficulties and challenges, said the report on Tibet's
economic and social development. >>>
BEIJING, April 1 (Xinhua) -- The population in China's Tibet Autonomous Region has grown rapidly over the past decades and the number of Tibetans make up more than 90 percent of the regional population, according to a report released Monday.
The report on Tibet's economic and social development, published by the China Tibetology Research Center, said although more and more people from the country's inland areas came to Tibet for work, the Tibetan population was still in an overwhelming majority, or more than 90 percent, of the regional population. >>>
