ISLAMABAD, March 27 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Supreme Court formed a five-member bench on Friday to review the petition filed by the government on the disqualification case of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his brother.
But there is no exact date set for the hearing about the review petition.
The review petition was filed soon after the Pakistani government decided to restore the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry earlier this month following a massive demonstration led by Sharif, also chief of the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Chaudhry, who was sacked by former president Pervez Musharraf in an emergency rule, has taken office on Sunday.
Last month, a Supreme Court verdict has banned Nawaz Sharif and his brother Shahbaz Sharif from holding office.
The verdict also removed Shahbaz Sharif from the office of chief minister of eastern Pakistan's Punjab province, the country's largest and richest province where the PML-N holds power.
Nawaz Sharif termed the verdict as "unconstitutional", and participated in the "long march" demonstration aimed at restoring the judges including Chaudhry.
The demonstration ended up with the government's decision to reinstate the judges.
