BISHKEK, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyz parliament agreed on Friday to hold presidential election on July 23.
The parliament voted to set the date, with 80 votes in favor and one abstention.
The date came one day after the Constitutional Court ruled that the election should be held before Oct. 25.
President Kurmanbek Bakiev, who was elected in 2005, said last month that he would accept any decision by the court and would seek re-election.
The Constitution, which had stipulated the next election is held in 2009, was amended in 2007 to move the next election to 2010.
