NEW DELHI, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Train services were disrupted after suspected separatists blew up a railway track by exploding a powerful bomb in the northeastern Indian state of Assam early Thursday minutes before a superfast train from Delhi was about to cross.
A senior police official told the media that the suspected Karbi Longri National Liberation Front (KLNLF) insurgent group exploded the bomb on a stretch of railway track in Assam's Karbi Anglong district minutes before the movement of the Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani.
"However, no one has been injured in the blast though it was a powerful one and caused a 2.5-feet deep crater on the track," he said.
He also said that security forces recovered another powerful explosive at a distance of the blast but that was defused immediately.
"Senior officials have rushed to the spot. A high-level probe has been launched into the blast," he said.
KLNLF is a militant group operating in Karbi Anglong and the North Cachar hills of Assam. In July 2008, the Assam government estimated that KLNLF had a membership of 225. KLNLF is closely linked to the United Liberation Front of Asom, a militant group in Assam.
