Austrian police cracks large net child porn

    VIENNA, March 13 (Xinhua) -- Austrian Federal Criminal Police (BK) has recently cracked a large crime network of child porn pictures and videos via internet, involving some 900 suspects in Austria, the largest case of net child porn in Austria.

    According to BK press release on Friday, the investigation of this case began at the end of 2007, when the Croatian police found through internet supervision that some 150,000 people entered a certain site within only three days and downloaded child porn. It reported to the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) immediately and assisted with the investigation.

    In Austria, 935 people have been found so far to be involved in the case, among which 189 are suspected of copying or spreading child porn, according to BK.

    Only in Vienna, the Austrian police searched 94 households to investigate the case. They detained also 14,000 computers and a large number of hard disks, floppy disks and other storage mediums. The police also found some prohibited weapons and ammunition during the search.

    According to Austrian police, the suspects come from different states of Austria, even including politicians, lawyers and doctors. Now some criminals producing and spreading child porn have been punished by law, and the sixteen 9 to 12-year-old child victims have been identified of coming from the United States and Paraguay.
