RIO DE
JANEIRO, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo president Marcio Braga received on
Tuesday a harsh sentencing from the Court of Sports Justice of Rio de Janeiro,
suspended for four years.
Braga
got in trouble after criticizing the court's decision to deduct six points from
the Vasco da Gama soccer team for having irregularly used their midfielder
Jefferson.
An
appeal will be made against the 1440-day ban as the club's lawyers have declared
that they are working on overturning the sentence.
The
Court of Sports Justice found Braga guilty of breaking articles 187, 188 and 190
as it is forbidden to offend any member of the Juridical Organs or public
authorities, is prohibited to disrespect, threaten or offend a member of the
National Counsel of Sports, the Court of Sports Justice or game officials, and
is prohibited to make any disrespectful statements regarding the entity's
rulings.
Braga
will return to the court on Wednesday for his disputable conduct during the
team's semifinal game against Resende for the first half of the Rio de Janeiro
state championship.
The
boss, who will end the presidential term at Flamengo in December, stormed onto
the field to complain about the referee's call.
With
the recent happenings, he may be forced to exit the club early.
