On July 24, 1956, more than 300 rebels besieged the PLA garrison and representative's office in Cakalho County. The CPC work committee to Ningjing County came under attack on August1. Rebels also launched assaults on geological prospecting teams, Soviet Union experts and military supply depots in Toba and Gyamda. Bloody violence against PLA soldiers and local people supported by kasha were reported across Tibet. By August 1958 more than 70 cases against civilians were filed. The picture shows remains of a PLA soldier whose heart was gouged out by rebels and a Tibetan man whose nose and upper lip were sliced off by rebels.
