Since the foundation of the Tibet Autonomous Region its government has been led by Tibetans. Regional chairmen include Ngabo Ngawang Jime, Tianbao, Dorje Tsetan, Dorje Tsering, Gentshan Norpu, Lekquk and Qiangba Puncok.
