TOKYO, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Japan's department store giant Takashimaya Co.
will open its first Chinese outlet in Shanghai in 2012, company sources said
Takashimaya will become the second Japanese department store operator after
Isetan Co., a unit of Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd., to open stores in China
to sustain growth while demand at home kept sagging.
Takashimaya said the store will offer a broad range of products from food
to luxury clothing, occupying a retail space of about 40,000 square meters from
the basement floor to the seventh floor inside a 30-story office building.
The department store chain said it also eyes to open outlets in other
Chinese cities in the future.
The Shanghai store will be the third large-scale overseas store for
Takashimaya following its outlets in Taiwan and Singapore.
