Concerts held to help Australia's bushfires victims

    CANBERRA, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- Australian Environment Minister Peter Garrett said on Tuesday that he will hold a huge benefit concert in Melbourne next month for victims of the Victorian bushfires.

    The concert is set to be held on March 14.

    Another concert, which will also benefit victims of the bushfires as well as the Queensland floods, will occur simultaneously in Sydney.

    The Sydney concert will feature an acoustic set by international band Coldplay as well as Josh Pyke, Eskimo Joe, The Hoodoo Gurus, Jet, Wolfmother and Icehouse.

    Victoria's bushfires, which started on Feb. 7, is the deadliest natural disaster in Australian history. Two hundred and nine people have been killed so far with 1,800 homes being destroyed and more than 450,000 hectares burnt out.
