QUITO, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- Ecuadorian Vice President Lenin Moreno has vowed to support the staff-training program of the Ecuadorian armed forces in an adapted sport for the people with disability through the campaign "Sports without Barriers," local press said on Monday.

Moreno said in a communiqu¨¦ that the training on free jump will start with the involvement of U.S. and Canadian parachuting instructors who arrived in Ecuador on Friday.

Members from the world team of free jump Virginia Kuhlmann and Leonardo Cardenas, as well as the Canadian champion Leigh Estabrrok, will stay in the county until Feb. 28 to help Ecuadorian military parachutists train disabled people to make free jumps.

This initiative is included in the program "Ecuador without barriers", which was launched in 2007 by Moreno in order to give opportunities and tools to the disabled people and to improve their life quality under the observance and respect of their fundamental rights.

"Sports without Barriers" is one of the axis programs, whose main is to give disabled people the opportunity to practice extreme sports in order to improve their self-esteem and to show their capacity facing challenges.

At the end of March the first "Sports without Barriers" festival will be held in the beach of Salinas, where disabled people from all the country could experience and practice sports like free jump, diving, hiking on rock, judo, tennis, among others.
