HONG KONG, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- A spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries
and Conservation Department of Hong Kong said Friday that a dead Crested Myna
found in Tung Ping Chau was confirmed to be positive towards H5N1 avian flu
virus.
Under the present avian influenza surveillance program on dead wild birds,
the Crested Myna carcass was found and collected on Feb. 12 at Sha Tau in Tung
Ping Chau, an outlying island.
The spokesman reminded members of the public to avoid personal contact with
wild birds and live poultry and their droppings; poultry and eggs should be
thoroughly cooked before consumption.
