CARACAS, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping on Wednesday met here with President of Venezuela's National Assembly Cilia Flores. Both leaders have expressed willingness to further cooperation between the two parliaments, and enhance Sino-Venezuelan ties.
Xi thanked the Venezuelan National Assembly for its
condolences to the Chinese people during the Sichuan earthquake last year.
He also noted that under the care of leaders from
both countries and through the joint efforts by both sides, Sino-Venezuelan
relations have entered a new phase of fast and comprehensive development, and
the two countries have deepened their mutual political trust, enhanced pragmatic
cooperation in various fields, promoted cultural exchanges, and kept close
exchanges and coordination on international issues.
Xi said that China is willing to work with Venezuela
to maintain high-level exchanges between the two governments, parliaments and
ruling parties, continue to strengthen the mutually-beneficial cooperation in
various fields, and further enrich bilateral strategic relations.
Flores said that currently bilateral relationship is
at its best time in history. Venezuela admires China's achievements and is
willing to learn from its experiences.
The Venezuelan National Assembly will provide legal
guarantees for the mutually-beneficial cooperation treaties that the Venezuelan
government signs with the Chinese government, and will try to enhance the
exchanges between the two governments, parliaments, parties and other social
groups, he said.
