BEIJING, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- Russia is still
continuing its rescue efforts and investigation into the sea accident involving
a Chinese cargo ship, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Jiang Yu here
Thursday.
A Chinese cargo ship on Sunday sank off the waters
near Russia's far-eastern port of Vladivostok. Three Chinese crew members were
rescued and seven others were missing, said Jiang.
"The Foreign Ministry and the Chinese consulate in
Russia have already respectively raised representations to the Russian Embassy
in China and other related Russian departments, urging the Russian side to spare
no effort to help search for the missing crew members and quickly find out the
causes of the incident," Jiang Yu told a regular press conference.
Chinese consulate officials in Khabarovsk and
Vladivostok visited the rescued sailors and offered assistance to handle the
aftermath of the accident, Jiang said in response to a question.
