China and Brazil are the biggest developing countries
in the eastern and western hemispheres respectively, Xi said, noting that
bilateral relations have led to fruitful achievements, especially since the
establishment of the strategic partnership in 1993.
Xi said China and Brazil have maintained close
collaboration in international affairs and defended the interests of developing
countries.
China highly values its strategic partnership with
Brazil, and is determined to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields, he
said.
Xi said China is willing to join hands with Brazil to
confront new challenges, promote common development, and make more contributions
to South-South cooperation.
Brazil is the fifth stop of Xi's six-nation tour
which has already taken him to Mexico, Jamaica, Colombia, and Venezuela. He will
travel to Malta after concluding his visit to Brazil.
During his visit to Venezuela, the Chinese vice
president met with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, Vice President Ramon
Carrizales and Cilia Flores, president of Venezuela's National Assembly. They
discussed reciprocal cooperation between the two countries and international
issues of common concern.
In talks with Carrizales, the two exchanged views on
ways of deepening bilateral pragmatic cooperation.
Xi said with the establishment of the China-Venezuela
strategic partnership for common development in 2001, bilateral ties had entered
a new stage of development.
Trade and economic exchanges were expanding rapidly
and there exists good momentum for bilateral cooperation in such key areas as
energy, agriculture, infrastructure construction and high technology, he said.

The two economies are highly complementary and China
is ready to join hands with Venezuela to deepen and expand mutually beneficial
cooperation, Xi said.
In energy cooperation, potentials should be tapped so
that the two sides could become long-term, stable cooperative partners, he said.
Xi said greater efforts should be made to promote
cooperation in agriculture through increased coordination between relevant
departments of the two countries.
China will continue to encourage capable and credible
Chinese enterprises to participate in Venezuela's infrastructure construction
and other projects, he said.
In addressing a seminar attended by Chavez and
entrepreneurs from both China and Venezuela, Xi spoke highly of the bilateral
ties and all-round cooperation between the two countries.
Xi hoped that joint efforts would be made to further
promote China-Venezuela friendly cooperation, including improving the mechanism
for cooperation and strengthening cooperation in energy and finance.
He said both sides should focus on common development
and deepening mutual political trust, and enriching the contents of their
strategic partnership.
Strengthening friendly and mutually beneficial
cooperation between China and Venezuela was also conducive to the development of
China-Latin America relations as a whole, Xi said.
