BEIJING, Feb. 16 -- Many parts of northern China have seen a sudden drop in temperatures in the wake of a cold front. While a snow storm has swept East China's Shandong province.
A snowstorm hit Weihai, Shandong Province on Saturday night, dumping 8 millimeters of snow in one hour.It did not stop until Sunday morning. But the snow has not affected road traffic and shipping.
China's northeastern provinces have experienced fair weather after two days of heavy snow. But they are seeing strong winds and a temperature drop. The expressways in Liaoning province have now been reopened.
In the northern part of Heilongjiang province, the temperature dropped to minus forty degrees Celsius. The Meteorological Bureau of Jilin province issued a yellow warning for the temperature drop and a blue warning for strong winds.
In Beijing, lowest temperatures fell eight degrees Celsius. And Shanghai has experienced a severe temperature drop.
The Central Meteorological Observatory forecasts that the cold air will move south in the next two days lowering the temperature by four to eight degrees. Meanwhile, Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Heilongjiang province may witness light or moderate snowfalls.
