SHENZHEN, South China, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- After six months rest, four-time Olympic champion Guo Jingjing has returned to the pool since the beginning of Feburary, Chinese officials confirmed here on Friday during the 15th FINA Diving Grand Prix.
Guo, 28, won two gold medals at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and retained both individual and synchronized three-meter springboard titles in the Beijing Games.
As one of the most successful divers in history and the most valuable women athlete in China, Guo has been busy attending all kinds of social activities since September last year.
She said she would like to compete in her fifth Olympics in London 2012 but many people believed that she would quit the sport and get married very soon.
However, Zhou Jihong, team manager of the Chinese national team, admitted that Guo has finished her holidays and returned to training after the Chinese traditional Spring Festival.
Zhou said: "She has just come back to training. She needs time to recover physically and mentally. If everything is under control, she may compete in the Rome World Championships in July. "
"But I don't want to push her too hard. I hope she can find her best form step by step. All the team members and I are very glad that Guo has been back. " Zhou smiled.
Guo will compete in the quadrennial National Games in the end of September this year for sure to secure her fame on the springboard.
