BANGKOK, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya Wednesday denied foreign media reports, which said the country did ill-treat Rohingya refugees, local media said.
The Thai Foreign Minister's denial was in response to the Associated Press and Agence France Press reports which quoted Indonesian navy officer Tedi Sutardi citing Rohingya witnesses as stating 22 of their number had died on the crossing from Thailand after fleeing the military dictatorship in Myanmar.
But Kasit dismissed the reports arguing the account of the boatpeople had not been verified by the Indonesian government, the website by Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
"The foreign media reports have not yet been verified, so we have to wait for an official investigation of the Indonesian government," he said.
