South China copes with passenger peak as holidays end

    BEIJING, Feb. 2 -- South China's Guangdong Province, a major destination for migrant workers, reached record high in holiday travel on the last day of the week-long Spring Festival holidays.

    On Saturday, Guangzhou Railway Station received about 200,000 passengers, in addition to some 112,000 in the Guangzhou East Railway Station.

    In Shenzhen that borders Hong Kong, the number of passengers reached 65,000, while the manufacturing city Dongguan saw 76,000.

    Shenzhen Airlines carried more than 10,000 passengers on Saturday, as dozens of flights were mostly full. More flights were added temporarily to Wuhan, Changsha, Nanchang in central and east China and Harbin in northeastern Heilongjiang Province.

    Soundbite: Guangzhou Long-distance Transportation Company, Provincial Bus Terminal, Party secretary, Li Guiyu People started to take their return trip on Thursday.

    A rush peak is expected on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The 24-hour ticket service has began from Thursday, and the number of ticket office has been increased. As a result, at our provincial bus terminal,the whole process of buying a ticket, waiting for a bus and checking in now takes no more than half an hour.
