MADRID, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Raul Gonzalez tried to focus on the team after a historic Saturday night which saw him make club history for Real Madrid.

Raul's goal at the start of the second half away to Numancia, not only put Real Madrid on track for a 2-0 win, but also saw him draw level with the all time club goal scoring record of 307, which was set by the legendary Alfredo di Stefano.

Raul, who is the current Real Madrid captain, insisted that he could not have achieved his feat alone.

"The important thing has always to be the team, because this win is very positive for us. Personally I am very pleased to have been able to draw level with Don Alfredo. It is something that is very nice to have done. It's a lot of goals and I hope now to be able to beat him in the next few weeks," said Raul on the club website in the early hours of Sunday.

The striker made his debut as a 17-year-old in October 1994 and Raul knows that longevity has been one of the keys to his success.

"This comes from playing so many years in Real Madrid, I have had so many coaches and good teammates. They have always made my job a lot easier," he said, while trying to focus on Madrid's battle to win the league title.

"I am happy and everyone is congratulating me, but I am already thinking about getting the three points in our next game," said Raul.
