HARARE, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF Politburohas met and
endorsed the SADC roadmap calling for the formation of an inclusive government
by Feb. 13, The Herald reported on Thursday.
Speaking after the meeting at the ruling party's headquarters in Harare on
Wednesday, Zanu-PF national secretary for information and publicity Nathan
Shamuyarira said the extraordinary summit held in Tshwane, South Africa on
Monday had come up with concrete decisions to implement the broad-based
agreement signed on Sep. 15last year.
The extraordinary summit has set up the schedule for the implementation of
the Sep. 15 Global Political Agreement that should bring a conclusion to the
dialogue that had stalled the formation of the inclusive government, he said.
"Zanu-PF is fully behind this resolution and the Politburo has endorsed it.
President Mugabe is now expected to start rolling out the process to implement
the agreement according to recommendations of the regional bloc," he added.
Shamuyarira said the Politburo had taken note of the decision by SADC to
review the allocation of ministerial posts within six months of the inception of
the inclusive Government.
"This is an important decision that has been taken for the first time since
the agreement was signed last year. Also of particular interest was the decision
for dialogue to continue in the inclusive Government on the appointment of the
Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Governor and the Attorney-General," he said.
The extraordinary summit resolved that Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment
(No. 19) Bill be passed by Feb. 5, with MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai, his
deputy Thokozani Khupe and Professor Arthur Mutambara, the leader of the other
MDC formation, being sworn in as Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Ministers
respectively on Feb. 11.
This would be followed by the swearing-in of Cabinet ministers on Feb. 13
to complete the formation of the inclusive government.
According to the SADC communique, the Joint Monitoring and Implementation
Committee is expected to be formed Friday at a meeting to be convened by
dialogue facilitator, former South African president Cde Thabo Mbeki.
JOMIC will be responsible for monitoring and implementing the broad-based
agreement.
