BEIJING, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen
Jiabao left Beijing Tuesday morning for official visits to four European
countries and the EU headquarters from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2.
He will head for Switzerland,
Germany, Spain and Britain. He is also
scheduled to visit the EU headquarters and attend the annual meeting of the
World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Wen was invited by President of the Swiss
Confederation Hans-Rudolf Merz, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Spanish Prime
Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown,
President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and WEF Executive
Chairman Klaus Schwab.
Wen's European visits to be "trip of
confidence", says Chinese official
BEIJING, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Premier
Wen Jiabao's upcoming European visit would show China's confidence to work with
European nations and organizations to push forward the China-EU comprehensive
strategic partnership and deepen the bilateral cooperation, said a Foreign
Ministry official here on Thursday.
The Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that
Premier Wen would make official visits to Switzerland, Germany, the EU
headquarters, Spain and Britain from Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. He will also attend the
annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. Full story

highlights good Swiss-China ties: envoy
GENEVA, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Chinese
Premier Wen Jiabao's upcoming visit to Switzerland highlights the good quality
of relations between the two countries, former Swiss ambassador to China Dante
Martinelli has said.
The two countries have maintained solid and "very
good" relations, Martinelli, who is now ambassador to the U.N. Office in Geneva,

Merz said Friday that he warmly welcomes Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao's visit to
Switzerland and is looking forward to meeting him in Bern.
As a power with global influence, China holds a
strategic position in the international community, Merz told Chinese Ambassador
