RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Colombian President Alvaro Uribe will visit Brazil next month to meet with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, a presidential spokesman said Tuesday.
Uribe proposed a visit to Brazil during a 15-minute telephone conversation with Lula earlier in the day, said Marcelo Baumbach.
In December, Uribe had to cancel his participation in a regional summit in Costa do Sauipe, a coastal resort in northeastern Brazil, due to floods that affected several parts in Colombia.
During the conversation, the two presidents said they are working hard to minimize the impact of the global financial crisis on their countries, especially the poorer population, Baumbach said.
