WASHINGTON, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President George
W. Bush met with his Mexican counterpart Felipe Calderon here on Tuesday,
pledging continued bilateral cooperation on border security and narco
trafficking.
"The less drugs we use, the less pressure there'll be
in Mexico. We have got responsibilities to help prevent guns from going from the
United States into Mexico," Bush told reporters after his final White House
meeting with Calderon.
Calderon, who has been striving for curb drug-related
killings in homeland, also vowed to continue "fighting criminals and to
overcoming them once and for all."
The United States is in good relations with
neighboring Mexico. In his meeting with Calderon on Monday, U.S. President-elect
Barack Obama also promised to beef up relations with Mexico City.
New U.S. presidents traditionally meet with their Mexican counterparts either before they are inaugurated or shortly afterward. Obama will be inaugurated on January 20.
