CAIRO, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- At least four Egyptians, including two police officers and two children, were wounded in Israeli airstrikes near the border town of Rafah between Egypt and the Palestinian territory of the Gaza Strip on Sunday.

During the intensive Israeli bombing on the border areas of Gaza, two police officers were wounded by the shrapnel, said the Egyptian state MENA news agency.

Two kids, five-year-old Fatma Hussien Ateiya and two-year-old Mahmoud Jalal from the Rafah border town at the Egyptian side, also injured by the shrapnel.

According to witnesses, Israeli aircraft continued bombing the Gazan border areas with Egypt on Sunday, which once suspended the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza and transfer of injured Palestinians to the Egyptian side for treatments.

Since the beginning of the Gaza conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants, an Egyptian border guard was killed in clashes with Gazans who fled the Israeli attacks and crossed into Egypt.

The Israeli operation entered the 16th day on Sunday, killing more than 900 Palestinians. On the Israeli side, 13 people have been killed since the operation began on Dec. 27.
