BEIJING, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Senior Communist Party
of China (CPC) official Wang Chen has underscored that the country's current
objective for overseas publicity will focus on building a friendly environment
for international communication.
Wang, director of the International Communication
Office of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a national conference
on publicity for overseas which was held here from Jan. 4-6.
According to a statement released after the meeting,
China will strengthen the exchange of experiences in coping with the economic
crisis with overseas counterparts. It will introduce the development of the
country's economic society to the world as the impact of the financial crisis
begins to hit home.
It also said the current press release system should
be improved and foreign media's reporting would be serviced better.
In addition, culture-themed activities will be an
important part of this year's publicity work in an attempt to boost
international cultural exchange.
