President Hu urges world peace, prosperity in New Year address

    BEIJING, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao called for world peace, stability and prosperity in a New Year address broadcast on Wednesday to domestic and overseas audiences via state TV and radio stations.

    "We sincerely hope all countries will support and help each other and work together to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the world and bring to the people of all nations a peaceful and happy life," Hu said.

    The address, "Jointly Promote World Peace, Stability and Prosperity," was broadcast by China Radio International, China National Radio and China Central Television.   Full story
