BEIRUT, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt on Tuesday criticized verbal attacks targeting Egypt, while Christian Lebanese Forces (LF) chief Samir Geagea warned against attempts to topple Arab regimes.

Hassan Nasrallah, chief of Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, urged Egyptians on Sunday to take to the streets "in millions" to force the government to open Rafah crossing with the Gaza Strip which is now under intensive Israeli raids.

Nasrallah even urged officers and politicians to pile pressure on their government to open the crossing to allow food and weapons into the impoverished Gaza, but ruled out that he was calling for a coup in Egypt.

Jumblatt criticized Nasrallah's remarks, ruling out the possibility of escalation from Lebanon in line with "Gaza confrontation."

"What would escalation from Lebanon produce, when Syria makes no move despite that its land is occupied, but instead negotiates with Israel," Jumblatt was quoted by Future TV as saying.

He said the ongoing violence in Gaza would only result in "more terror."

Meanwhile, Geagea warned Tuesday against attempts to "topple Arab regimes instead of exerting efforts to rescue Gaza" and to "change the Arab-Israeli conflict into an Arab-Arab conflict."

"We are trying to rescue Gaza, not to spark revolutions in the Middle East," he told reporters.

"I urge the Lebanese army to be ready to prevent anyone from dragging Lebanon into the confrontation in Gaza," Geagea added.

Nasrallah told demonstrators Monday to be ready for executing orders in case of any development, stressing that the resistance is ready for any confrontation.

Demonstrators in protest against the closure of crossing on the Egyptian side tried Sunday to approach the Egyptian embassy in West Beirut, but they were forced away by riot police.

On Monday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul Gheit implicitly accused Nasrallah of "declaring war against the Egyptian people."
