AMMAN, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Qatar on Saturday called for a unified Arab stance on Israeli strikes against the besieged Gaza Strip, according to a statement by Royal Hashemite court.

Jordan's King Abdullah II and Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani, in a telephone call, discussed efforts to adopt a unified Arab stance to immediately end the Israeli aggression, said the royal court.

Earlier, Jordan called for an emergency meeting of Arab League council to discuss the situation in Gaza and put forward an Arab plan to end the Israeli aggression.

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa has said Arab foreign ministers will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the situation either on Sunday or Monday.

Gaza is currently under heavy air raids by Israel. About 200 Palestinians have been killed and around 750 others injured in the Israeli blitz, according to Palestinian hospital sources.

Palestinian armed groups responded by firing rounds of makeshift projectiles into Israeli border towns, killing a woman in western Negev community of Netivot and injuring six others.

Israel and Gazan militant groups had generally observed an Egypt-brokered truce deal for five months before clashes resumed in early November.

As Gazan militants pummeled southern Israel on a nearly daily basis, Israeli officials have warned that they would take decisive moves to restore security in the south.
