Lebanese Prime Minister denounces "tragic criminal actions" against Gaza

    BEIRUT, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Seniora denounced the Israeli air raid attack against Gaza strip Saturday, describing it as "tragic and criminal", Elnashra website reported.

    Announcing on behalf of the Lebanese government, Seniora "strongly denounced and rejected the criminal operation in the Gaza Strip", the report said.

    Seniora called the Arab League and Arab Kings and heads of states to convene an extraordinary session and adopt a "united Arab stand to face the aggression."

    He also called the United Nations to adopt "deterring and necessary measures against Israel for it's continuous violations of Palestinian and Arab human rights."

    Seniora pledged for a "Lebanese, Arab and international solidarity campaign to stop the attack and rescue the victims."

    Israeli jet fighters launched Saturday morning a massive air raid on Gaza, destroying most of Hamas offices, leaving hundreds dead and injured.

    GAZA, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- At least 140 Palestinians, most of them Hamas security members, were killed before Saturday noon when Israeli airplanes launched simultaneous strikes across the Gaza Strip, said medical sources.

    Tawfiq Jaber, chief of Hamas police, was among the dead in the series of strikes that took place in a period of two minutes, targeting almost all of Hamas-run security headquarters and training camps of its military wing. Full story
