BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The governments of Switzerland and Italy on their web sites warned citizens to be careful when traveling in Paraguay for the high insecurity there, reported Paraguayan daily ABC Color on Friday.

The two governments warned the potential tourists "to be very careful" when traveling the Latin American country, where crimes including kidnappings were increasing, said the newspaper.

Switzerland suggested their citizens not resist in case of robbery lest they get hurt, and warned them not to walk in the street with valuables.

Both governments said that "financial and bank crimes are frequent" in Paraguay and there is no guarantee of medical assistance there, except in the capital.

The two governments also warned their citizens traveling in Paraguay to bring with them copies of passports and hire a local tour guide to prevent inconvenience.

Italian Foreign Ministry said that although security was beefed up in Paraguay amid social and economic instabilities, crime rate continues to rise.

It also said that Paraguay is a transit country for drugs and suggested Italian nationals immediately contact the Italian consulate or embassy when they have any problem with the National Police in Paraguay.
