SHANGHAI,
Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Wu Poh-hsiung, Chairman of Taiwan's ruling Kuomintang party,
along with Honorary Chairman Lien Chan arrived in Shanghai Friday to attend a
two-day cross-Straits economic and cultural forum.
Wu and Lien were received by Wang Yi, director of the
Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
They are here to attend the 4th Cross-Straits
Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum, scheduled for December 20-21.
The forum, themed "deepening cross-Straits economic
exchange and cooperation", is co-organized by the Communist Party of China and
the Kuomintang.
Topics include expanding cross-Straits cooperation in
the finance and service sectors, encouraging two-way investment and regularizing
economic exchanges between the two sides.
Representatives from the Kuomintang, the People First
Party and the New Party from Taiwan and the CPC will attend the forum. They will
be joined by economic and cultural experts from both sides of the Taiwan
Strait.
