One killed, 6 injured in explosion in Turkey

    ANKARA, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- At least one person was killed and six others injured in an explosion on Wednesday in Turkey's biggest city of Istanbul, local newspaper Turkish Daily News reported on its website.

    The incident occurred at a chemical factory in the leather industry zone in Istanbul's Tuzla district, said the report, adding that two people were seriously injured.

    The fire at the chemical factory caused by the explosion is now under control, said the report, citing a local security officer.

    The cause of the explosion is not immediately available, it said.

    Earlier this month, three people were killed and ten others were injured in a gas explosion in a municipality building in northwestern province of Izmit.
