iPhone 3G voted "gadget of year"

Apple's iPhone 3G has won a public vote to find the year's best gadget, beating strong competition from three games consoles, a budget laptop and a balloon-shaped iPod speaker system.

    BEIJING, Sept. 18 -- Apple's iPhone 3G has won a public vote to find the year's best gadget, beating strong competition from three games consoles, a budget laptop and a balloon-shaped iPod speaker system.

    The latest version of the mobile that combines a phone with a music and video player was chosen by readers of Stuff magazine in its annual Gadget of the Year awards. Full story

    LOS ANGELES, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mobile service provider T-Mobile on Tuesday launched the first cell phone powered by a operating system development by Internet giant Google in the United States, and the companies expect to sell at least 200,000 of the handset by the year end.

    The G1 smart phone, which mimic many of the features of Apple's popular iPhone, features a touch screen and a fold out keyboard. The device will be available for customers exclusively through T-Mobile in the United States from October, the companies said. Full story
