    BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier and President Hu Jintao's Special Representative Wang Qishan and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, special envoy of President George W. Bush, Tuesday discussed the upcoming Fifth China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue and bilateral cooperation.

    In a telephone conversation, the two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, jointly coping with the ongoing world financial crisis, pushing forward the Doha round of trade negotiations and fighting global trade protectionism.

    They spoke highly of the positive results of the China-U.S. Strategic Economic Dialogue and agreed to put into action the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, to prepare well to ensure the success of the Fifth China-U.S. Economic Dialogue and to promote the continued development of economic and trade ties and the constructive cooperation between the two countries.

China, U.S. to hold fifth SED in early December

    BEIJING, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States will hold the fifth Strategic Economic Dialogue (SED) from Dec. 4 to 5 in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced here on Tuesday.

    Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan and U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will co-chair the SED as special representatives of heads of state of the two countries, Qin said at a regular press conference.  Full story

China "hopes to continue SED mechanism" with U.S.

    BEIJING, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese spokesman voiced hope here on Tuesday for a continuation of the Strategic and Economic Dialogue (SED) mechanism between China and the United States.

    Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qin Gang told a routine press conference that the dialogue has become an important platform to boost China-U.S. economic and trade relations and overall bilateral relations.  Full story
