HONG KONG, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale occurred over the seas to the east of Taiwan at 11:19 Tuesday (0319 GMT Tuesday), according to a bulletin released by the Hong Kong Observatory.

    The epicenter was initially determined to be 23.3 degrees north latitude and 121.6 degrees east longitude, about 76 kilometers south of Hualian of Taiwan.

    There were no reports of casualties or damage so far.
