DPRK top leader visits zoo: official newspaper

    PYONGYANG, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Kim Jong Il, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), paid a visit to a Pyongyang zoo which is under reconstruction, the official Rodong Sinmun daily said on Tuesday.

    Kim went around the aquarium, the tiger, bear and horse sheds and other places of the Central Zoo for a long while, the newspaper said, without giving a date for the trip.

    Kim gave detailed instructions on the reconstruction and future operation of the zoo, the report said, adding that he was accompanied by senior officials of the Workers' Party and commanding officers of the Korean People's Army.
