TEHRAN, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashqavi said here Monday that Iran is preparing to launch campaign to condemn sanctions on its aviation industry, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Nationwide arrangements are underway by the advocates of human rights activists to launch a 75-million signature campaign to condemn the sanctions on Iran's aviation industry as blatant violation of human rights, Qashqavi was quoted as saying.
"The issue is the worst example of violation of human rights," he told a weekly press conference.
The United States has imposed the sanctions banning international aviation companies, including aircraft manufacturer Boeing and European-made Airbus, from selling aircraft and repair parts to Iranian airlines directly.
The sanctions by the West against Iran have left the country with "a fleet of mainly aging planes, often fitted with unofficial spare parts."
