    BEIJING, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- Top Chinese leaders on Saturday turned out to bid a final farewell to Li Ximing, a former Communist Party of China (CPC) senior official, who died of an illness on Nov. 10..

    Li was a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislative body, and former party chief of Beijing.

    His body was cremated at the Babaoshan Cemetery Saturday.

    Chinese President and General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Hu Jintao and his predecessor Jiang Zemin attended the funeral.

    Other state and party leaders, including Wu Bangguo, Wen Jiabao, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang, also came to pay their respects.

    Li was described in an official statement released after his death as, "an outstanding CPC member, a time-tested, loyal Communist fighter and an excellent leader in his work."

    He was 82 years old when he died.
