BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC)Central Committee convened a meeting here recently to hear opinions and suggestions from non-Communist Party members on the country's judiciary reform.

More advice should be sought from non-Communist Party members to ensure smooth reform in the judiciary sector, said Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.

The reform should meet the judiciary needs of the people and aim at promoting social harmony, he told the meeting attended by members of the country's eight non-Communist parties, the nation's federation of industry and commerce, and personages without party affiliations.

He also underlined the importance of beefing up measures to tighten the restraint on and supervision over the use of power, saying more needed to be done to remove barriers that hampered justice.

Zhou Yongkang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, gave a report on the deepening the judicial system reform at the meeting.
