NICOSIA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Cyprus government on Friday donated 100,000 euros to China for reconstruction work in earthquake-stricken Sichuan province.

    Nicholas Emiliou, permanent secretary of the Cyprus Foreign Ministry, presented a 100,000-euro check to Chinese ambassador Zhao Yali, who thanked the Cyprus government for the donation.

    The Cyprus government, Emiliou said, supports China and its people after the catastrophic earthquake not only morally, but also in terms of a donation for the reconstruction effort.

    The Chinese ambassador briefed Emiliou on the latest situation concerning the earthquake-hit areas and the ongoing reconstruction process.
