HAVANA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) -- Raul Castro, president of
the Council of the State of Cuba met with visiting Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev Thursday to discuss bilateral ties and international affairs.
Cuban national TV reported that both sides stressed
the importance of cooperation in various fields, especially in economy.
Castro and Medvedev also exchanged views on the
current international situation, such as the global economic crisis.
According to the report, Castro thanked Russian
assistance to Cuba after the country was hit hard by storms.
Medvedve said the Russian people, government and
entrepreneurs will involve more in Cuba's economic development.
Medvedve arrived in Havana earlier Thursday, the
first visit by Russian president in eight years. Cuba is the final leg of a
Latin American tour for Medvedve, who also visited Peru, Brazil and Venezuela.

HAVANA, Nov. 27 (Xinhua) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived on Thursday noon in Havana, where he was welcomed by Cuban vice President Ricardo Cabrisas.
Medvedev is scheduled to have official meetings with Cuban Leader
Raul Castro, and visit places of social and cultural interests in Havana.
