A helicopter carries navigational
kerosene from China's Antarctic ice breaker Xuelong, or Snow Dragon, to
China's Zhongshan Antarctic Station, on Nov. 26, 2008. Xuelong was blocked
by thick ice around the Antarctica during her 25th expedition to
Antarctica. To keep up with the schedule, the science expedition team
began to send goods and materials by helicopter to China's Zhongshan
Antarctic Station under good weather condition. (Xinhua

China's 25th Antarctic expedition team
hits harsh weather
BEIJING, Nov. 24 -- China's 25th Antarctic expedition team has encountered

Snow and wind near the station have
blocked the expedition team's progress. The team has decided to transfer food
and materials to the station by helicopter. Vegetables are among the most needed
items, as the team relies on them for vitamins and nutrition. Full story
