OTTAWA, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- Canada expressed concern on Wednesday over the political turmoil in Thailand and urged all sides to seek a peaceful resolution to the situation.

"Canada is deeply concerned about the ongoing political instability in Thailand, particularly the events of the past few days such as the closure of Suvarnabhumi International Airport," Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon said in a statement.

"Canada encourages the parties involved to seek a peaceful resolution to the situation. We strongly urge all sides to refrain from violence and to respect democratic values and the rule of law," said the statement.

Fatalities and injuries have occurred as violent clashes between police and protesters and between rival protesting factions continue in Bangkok.
