Special: President Hu Attends Financial Summit, APEC Meeting, Visits Four Nations
LIMA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Peruvian newspapers on Monday highlighted the agreements reached at the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) economic leaders' summit, which was concluded here on Sunday.
Front page articles are accompanied by pictures of the leaders from the 21 members of the APEC, with their arms up and palms extending in front of them, all dressed with typical Andean ponchos of alpaca woolen.
Commentary articles hailed the agreements saying APEC members will continue to uphold the free market principles, and work together to lessen the negative effect of the global financial crisis.
They also praised the leaders' consensus on quality education, policies on climate change, corporative social responsibility and measures against corruption.
"We agree that the globalization based on economic, social and environmental progress could bring sustainable benefits to all APEC economies and people," said the Lima Declaration.
This year's APEC summit was described by the press here as the most important meeting held in Peru. It was covered by some 3,000 journalists coming from five continents.
