ISLAMABAD, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilan launched a three-day nationwide polio eradication campaign in Islamabad Monday.
Gilani, after inaugurating the anti-polio drive, urged the federal and provincial health ministries, and district administrations to do their best for prevention of the disease.
He appealed to parents, ulemas and international health organizations to extend their cooperation and help in making the campaign a success.
He said that it was a top priority of the government to provide health facilities to the people at their doorsteps, adding that this dream of former prime ministers Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto would be fulfilled.
During the three-day anti-polio campaign, 30 million children around Pakistan would be immunized with anti-polio and vitamin A vaccines.
