AMMAN, Nov. 23 (Xinhua)--Jordan's king Abdullah II on Sunday urged international community to move quickly to lift the blockade Israel has imposed to the Gaza Strip and facilitate entry of humanitarian aids in the area.
The king told a meeting of EU ambassadors to Jordan that Israel' s continue blockade creates a "humanitarian catastrophe" with destructive impact on Palestinians.
"The international community should do its utmost to end suffering of Palestinians in Gaza," said the king, highlighting EU' s crucial role in solving Palestinian-Israeli conflict on two-state basis.
Despite requests from the EU and the UN, Israel continued a complete lockdown of the coastal Gaza Strip, keeping cargo crossings, a main passageway for fuel and humanitarian aid, shut in response to rocket and mortar fire at Israeli border towns.
